The Post was Written in More Than Five Seconds

I am really angry right now. My keyboard is flinching from the force I am using to type.

And it’s all because of a blog post about self-care.

No, it’s not a post from this site. I haven’t gotten this angry over anything I’ve read here — yet. This one is on the blog of a membership organization for health care professionals, call them “MO” for short.

MO sends out regular emails touting their membership benefits, offering tips and advice, and sharing their takes on the issues facing their current and potential members. The usual stuff. I’m not a member, but my day job is targeted towards their members, so I try to keep neutral.

Today, they sent out the latest in their February blog post series. It was an unremarkable post, a listicle of ways to support your emotional health (exercise! make time for self care! get enough sleep!) I skimmed the post and stopped dead at this final line:

This blog post was written in less than 5 seconds by OpenAI — Chat GPT.

The part of this that makes me angry is not so much the ChatGPT. It’s the less than 5 seconds.
